Wintrust Field opened for the then Schaumburg Flyers in 1999, with the Boomers taking residence for the 2012 season. Wintrust Field is 15 miles west of O’Hare Airport and visible from the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway. The ballpark dimensions are identical to Wrigley Field. The Boomer name came from the mating call of the prairie chicken which is native to the area.
