This year is set to be a special one in Evansville, with the Otters celebrating their 30th anniversary as a team, all with the Frontier League. The Otters had somewhat of a down year in 2024 after making the Frontier League Championship Series the year prior. The team will be looking to make a jump back to contention in 2025 behind Andy McCauley, the second all-time winningest manager in league history. The Otters are another Frontier League team with a significant alumni presence in Major League Baseball organizations. Noah Myers, who won the Jason Simontacchi Rookie of the Year award in 2023, is currently with the Tampa Bay Rays High-A affiliate and recently appeared in the team’s 2025 Spring Breakout Game. Outfielder Patrick Lee only played 14 games with Evansville before being signed by the Detroit Tigers last summer; he appeared in multiple spring training games for the club and is currently at Double-A Erie. The Otters will be bringing out a new set of promotions to celebrate their 30th anniversary season. Headlining these new events will be their Opening Night Anniversary Celebration on May 9 that will include a jersey auction. The team will also don special themed jerseys for their Flag Day game on June 14. Other new promotions include Evansville Sports History Night on June 18 and Pirate Night on July 11. These new promotions will go along with returning fan favorites, such as Margaritaville Night on May 15 and Star Wars Night on August 23. Along with a hallmark anniversary for the team, historic Bosse Field will be turning 111 years old in 2025. The third-oldest active baseball stadium has been the home of the Otters since their inception in 1995. Bosse Field hosted more than 96,000 fans last season and was a catalyst for the Frontier League’s per-game attendance increase in 2024. The Otters will open their 30th anniversary season on May 8 when they host the Gateway Grizzlies. WASHINGTON, PA – Jordan DiValerio, who pitched his first season in independent baseball last summer, is returning to Washington after signing a new one-year deal. The righty was on a one-year deal last season that made him a free agent in December. Jordan won 10 games in 20 starts for the Wild Things last season and appeared in a couple playoff games as well. A former Boston farmhand, DiValerio started all 20 games he appeared in during the regular season in 2024. He boasted a 10-2 record and a 3.39 ERA for the season in 122 innings, a new career high by roughly 50 frames. He surrendered 140 hits in those innings but walked only 18. He fanned 75 opposing hitters and hit just four. Twelve of DiValerio’s 20 starts were of the quality variety (six or more innings with three earned runs or fewer against), including six in a row between July 23 and August 20. At one point, DiValerio had a stretch of 17.2 consecutive innings scoreless. DiValerio made the Opening Day start for Washington against Schaumburg, posting a quality start with six innings of three-run ball. Jordan struck out a new career-best 10 batters in eight innings on June 7 versus Joliet. His best start came on August 3 at newly named EQT Park, when he went the distance and twirled a shutout against Sussex County. In the affair, he struck out five batters including two in the ninth inning. It was his first career shutout and first career nine-inning complete game. He was named Frontier League Pitcher of the Week following that start. Jordan made his way to Washington after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Boston Red Sox organization in June of 2020. He had finished his collegiate career at St. Joseph’s and went on to get as far as High-A Greeneville in three seasons as a Red Sox farmhand. In 2021, DiValerio was 9-4 in 31 games and 72.1 innings. He walked only 16 batters and fanned 72 that year before pitching in one game for Salem (Class A) and 29 for Greenville, totaling 67.2 innings in 2022. He walked 15 and struck out 67. In 2023, he won five games, starting five of the 30 he appeared in for the Drive. In 72.2 innings, he walked just 15 and fanned 68. He pitched four seasons at Saint Joseph’s and amassed a 10-10 record and a 3.97 career collegiate ERA in 40 games (23 starts). In 145 innings on the bump, he walked 47 and struck out 149. He pitched three seasons in collegiate summer leagues, two in the NECL, where he was an all-star both seasons with Upper Valley. The Berwick, Pennsylvania native played his high school ball at Berwick Area, where he was a three-time All-Wyoming Valley Conference First Team honoree. He posted a sub-2.00 ERA in each of his last three seasons and lettered in both football and basketball. DiValerio figures to be a big part of the rotation for Washington this season along with a returning Zach Kirby, as the two returners from the rotation that helped lead the Wild Things to an FLCS appearance in 2024. Camp begins with the first day of practice on April 24. The Wild Things open their season on the road Friday, May 9, and the home opener, presented by EQT and at EQT Park, is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13 at 7:05 p.m. Season tickets, group packages and premium areas are available now by calling 866-456-WILD or by going to washingtonwildthings.com . TROIS-RIVIÈRES, QC - Trois-Rivieres Aigles Manager Jonathan Albaladejo has the wind in his sails for the 2025 season! He has reached an agreement with one of the crowd's favorites, outfielder Louis-Philippe Pelletier, who will play a 4th season with the Trois-Rivières Aigles! Originally from Montreal, the 28-year-old Quebecer first came to the city of Laviolette in the summer of 2021 when he donned the Team Quebec uniform. Since 2022, the former prospect of the San Diego Padres (38th round pick in 2014) and the Houston Astros (20th round pick in 2016) has proudly defended the Eagles' colors at Quillorama Stadium. In three seasons with the Oiseaux, Pelletier played a total of 236 games and maintained an excellent batting average of .318. A spark plug for the Trois-Rivières offense, he scored 202 runs in addition to producing 130, while also generating 297 hits, including 70 doubles and 32 home runs. His speed also allowed him to add 65 stolen bases. For new manager Albaladejo, Pelletier's return was essential for the upcoming campaign to solidify the foundation of the new roster. "LP is well established in the community, he's a crowd favorite, and he provides excellent attacking power to our team. It's a privilege for the Eagles to have a player of his caliber." Louis-Philippe Pelletier's signing joins those of pitchers Nathan Landry, Mike Hansell, Harry Rutkowski, Adam Wibert and Jacob Peaden, outfielders Justin Farmer, Juan Carlos Negret and Mathieu Vallée, infielders James Smibert, Luis Curbelo, Edward Sanchez, Omar Meregildo and Brandon Hylton and catcher Chris Burgess. The Trois-Rivières Eagles will kick off their 12th season —and their 4th in the Frontier League—on May 8th with a visit to the Sussex County Miners. They will then face the Evansville Otters and the Gateway Grizzlies on the road before opening their home game on May 20th at Quillorama Stadium against the Sussex County Miners. OTTAWA, ON - The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club announced today that they have agreed to terms on contracts with four new players: Canadian right-handed pitcher Brandon Marklund , right-handed pitcher Dazon Cole , outfielder Ren Tachioka , and outfielder Jo Oyama for the upcoming 2025 Frontier League season. Marklund, 28, inks a deal to join the pitching staff with parts of three seasons of professional experience. The Canadian right-hander began the 2024 campaign with the Québec Capitales, pitching to a 3.60 ERA over five innings. After his release, Marklund joined the Welland Jackfish of the Intercounty Baseball League – going 1-1 with a 6.42 ERA in 12 games (six starts, six in relief) over 28 innings. In the postseason, Marklund pitched to a perfect 0.00 ERA with 15 strikeouts and only 3 walks over 8.1 innings of relief. Hailing from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Marklund was signed by the Kansas City Royals in 2019 following a dominant winter pitching in Australia. Marklund suited up for the Lexington Legends in 2019, the Royals’ Class-A affiliate, posting a 0.46 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 19 walks over 39.1 innings of work. Internationally, Marklund played for the Canadian National Team at the 2019 WBSC Premier12 and the 2023 WBSC Americas Pan Am Games Qualifier. Post-pandemic, Marklund was sidelined for the entirety of the 2021 and 2022 campaigns due to two separate Tommy John surgeries. The 6-foot-2 right-hander returned to pro baseball in 2023 with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association. In 12 games for the Goldeyes, he registered nine strikeouts across 13.1 innings out of the bullpen. Marklund pitched two seasons at Bryan College (Dayton, Tennessee) from 2017-2018, going 11-6 with a 4.07 ERA in 42 games (18 starts, 24 in relief) – striking out 124 over 121.2 innings for the Lions. Cole, 28, heads north of the border to join the Titans’ bullpen with seven professional campaigns under his belt in various minor leagues and independent circuits. In 41 appearances in 2024 for the New Jersey Jackals, Cole went 2-2 with a 4.60 ERA across 43 innings pitched – walking 35 opposing hitters while striking out 36. Cole registered a team-leading six saves and posted two separate stints of five-inning scoreless streaks during his second Frontier League season. The Pontiac, Michigan product was selected in the 25th round of the 2018 June Amateur Draft by the Los Angeles Angels out of Central Michigan University (Mount Pleasant, Michigan) – in which Cole tossed parts of two years for the Orem Owlz of the affiliated Pioneer League. Since his release from the Angels organization, Cole has pitched in three independent leagues, including the 2021 campaign under the leadership of Titans manager Bobby Brown with the Missoula PaddleHeads. Tachioka, 24, is slated to debut in professional baseball this coming summer after wrapping up a four-year collegiate career. The 5-foot-8 left-handed hitter slugged to a .363 average in 49 games a season ago at the University of Southern Indiana (Evansville, Indiana) – posting six doubles, a triple, one home run, and cashed in 23 runs. Tachioka finished in the top ten in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average, on-base percentage (.453), and stolen bases (17). Hailing from Saitama, Japan, Tachioka suited up in 152 career collegiate games for the Screaming Eagles – hitting .318 with 22 doubles, seven triples, three home runs, and 79 RBI. Earlier this off-season, Tachioka was a member of Team Japan at the annual Caribbean Series – hitting .333 (4-for-12) with a double and three stolen bases in four games. Oyama, 24, signs his first professional contract following five seasons of collegiate baseball in California. In 2024, Oymana hit .296 with 13 doubles, four triples, slugged nine home runs, and knocked in 55 runs at the University of California, Irvine (Irvine, California) – leading the Big West with 59 games played. Oyama ranked within the top ten in the Big West in plate appearances (296), at-bats (223), runs (64), total bases (114), triples (4), RBI (55), hit by pitches (26), sacrifice hits (11), and extra-base hits (26). The 5-foot-6 left-handed hitter was named to the ABCA/Rawlings West All-Region Second Team, the Corvallis All-Regional Team, and the All-Big West Second Team last season – while also becoming the fourth Anteater to hit for the cycle on March 8 while adding a program record nine RBI in the game. The Naha, Japan product originally began his baseball journey in North America at Merced College (Merced, California) – where he was a lifetime .331 hitter with 40 doubles, 18 triples, 24 home runs, and 169 RBI across 201 games at the Junior College and Division 1 levels. The Ottawa Titans begin the 2025 season on the road versus the Down East Bird Dawgs on Friday, May 9 at Grainger Stadium in Kinston, North Carolina. The New York Boulders began the 2024 season in the most ideal way, topping the standings in the Frontier League East Division leading up to the All-Star break. The Boulders sent eight representatives to the All-Star Game and had multiple names among the league leaders in various statistical categories. While the last month of the season saw them fall out of the playoff picture, 2025 is shaping up to be a year of contention for the league’s Rockland County team. Boulders tickets were one of the hottest items in the league last season, as shown by the team drawing more than 130,000 fans to Clover Stadium in 2024. New York’s average game attendance was also more than 3,000 per game, making it the league’s third-largest average crowd size in a year where the entire Frontier League’s average team attendance numbers increased. New York will enter 2025 looking for its fourth straight season with at least 50 wins. Since their first season as a part of the Frontier League in 2021, the Boulders have put together a .537 winning percentage in nearly 400 games played. In February, the Boulders released their 2025 promotional lineup, which is home schedule packed with events, giveaways and promotions for nearly every game at Clover Stadium. Outside of the numerous firework displays, the team will feature themed nights including The Office Night on May 29, Irish Heritage Night on June 21, and a special Augtober Fest on August 15.
