2025 FRONTIER LEAGUE PREVIEWS: GATEWAY GRIZZLIES

The Gateway Grizzlies will be celebrating their 25th anniversary as an organization in 2025 with playoff aspirations and dreams of a Frontier League championship. Gateway won an impressive 59 games and made the playoffs in 2024, marking their second consecutive postseason berth under field manager Steve Brook.

While last year saw the first back-to-back winning seasons for the Grizzlies since 2013-14 (and the first back-to-back playoff appearances since 2007-08), the team fell short in the Wild Card game to the Lake Erie Crushers. Entering this season, Gateway will be aiming to recapture a division title while celebrating a quarter century of existence.

The Grizzlies’ success as a team was noticed by some in Major League Baseball, resulting in two pitchers being signed to affiliated teams; Osvaldo Berrios and Nate Garkow were picked up by the St. Louis Cardinals and the Toronto Blue Jays, respectively. Berrios and Garkow’s signings put the total Gateway players to sign with MLB organizations at 52.

A special season for the Gateway Grizzlies will include a fabulous slate of returning gameday promotions. Some of the fan favorites coming back for 2025 include three nights of fireworks on July 3,4 and 5 to celebrate an All-American Weekend, Star Wars Night on August 2, and St. Louis Browns Night on August 14.

The Frontier League’s St. Louis-area team will also be hosting a number of new events for their 25th anniversary season, including a St. Paddy’s Day celebration on June 18, a Sensory Friendly game on July 18 for those with sensory challenges, and a Mystery Bobblehead Night on August 1. The team will kick off their season with a tribute to long-time public address announcer Tom Calhoun, with a giveaway of a bobblehead in his likeness on May 16.

Gateway will open the season on the road against the Evansville Otters on Thursday, May 8. For more information on their extensive promotional schedule and tickets, visit gatewaygrizzlies.com.
