Schaumburg Boomers infielder Quincy Nieporte and Équipe Québec left-hander Miguel Cienfuegos have won this week’s Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. These awards are chosen by Pointstreak, who is the official statistical provider of the Frontier League.

Nieporte takes home the award for the first time since winning it with Schaumburg in 2019. He finished the week with ten hits, including a double, two home runs, and nine RBIs. He also led the league in batting average this week, hitting .455.

The 26-year old is in his second season in the Frontier League, after spending the 2019 season with the Boomers as well. Nieporte currently ranks third in the Frontier League this season with a .412 batting average and is second in the league with eleven RBIs. He is also tied for second in hits with fourteen.

In two appearances and one start this week, Cienfuegos pitched ten innings and picked up five strikeouts. He has yet to give up a run this season and surrendered only five hits this week. He also walked only two batters. In his start against Washington on Sunday, he pitched eight scoreless innings and earned his first win of the year.

The 24-year old is in his first season in the Frontier League, after playing at Northwest Florida State College, and participating in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. He is currently tied for the league lead in ERA through the opening two weeks of the season.
