BOOMERS HIRE BRICE DAVIS AS NEW HITTING COACH

The Schaumburg Boomers have announced the addition of Brice Davis to the 2021 coaching staff. He will serve as the team’s hitting coach.

Davis, comes to Schaumburg after spending the last two seasons as a coach at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU). He primarily worked with the hitters and served as the team’s infield coach. He replaces Derek Shomon, who joined the Minnesota Twins organization as a minor league hitting coach.

The Fishers, IN native also spent two seasons as the Varsity Hitting Coach at Fishers High School. In his two years at his alma mater the team set 19 records on offense and won the 2018 Class 4A State Championship.

“I am very excited to be bringing Brice on board with us,” said manager Jamie Bennett. “We had a lot of quality candidates interview for our hitting coach position and I feel Brice was the best fit for us. We really clicked in our conversations. I am confident his knowledge and his personality will have a positive impact on our ball club. A handful of our players already have some familiarity with Brice and really enjoyed working with him.”

Davis will work with several hitters from the 2019 roster that saw the Boomers finish third in the Frontier League in hits with 793. Among them is 2019 Frontier League batting champion, Quincy Nieporte.

“I couldn’t be more excited about joining such an impressive organization or working alongside Manager Jamie Bennett and Pitching Coach Connor Reed,” said Davis. “Their pursuit of creating a winning culture while staying true to the family atmosphere of Schaumburg is absolutely incredible. This opportunity means the world to me and I can’t wait to see what this summer has in store for the Boomers.”

Davis is the Owner and Head Instructor of Davis Baseball out of Indiana. He played college baseball at IWU. In 2013, his senior season, Davis batted .273 and led the team in RBIs with 33.
