The Gateway Grizzlies are beginning to build their roster for 2021 with the signings of RHP Andrew Bash, RHP Mac McCarty and C/1B Nick Gatewood.
Andrew Bash, a 24 year old right handed pitcher was a 30th round pick of the Los Angeles Angels in the 2019 amateur draft spent last season in the Angels rookie league where he went 1-1 with a 2.81 ERA in 14 games.
Prior to being drafted Bash played at California Baptist where he was a two-way threat hitting .320 over three seasons and winning 20 games with a 2.68 ERA.
Mac McCarty, 22, spent two years at VCU before moving on to the University of Alabama-Birmingham. During the 2020 season McCarty dominated over 16 innings, picking up five saves and giving up only three hits over 16 innings.
Nick Gatewood, 23, Catcher/1st Baseman was drafted in the 11th round by the San Diego Padres in 2018. Spending two years in the Padres system hitting ten homers in 114 games.
Gatewood spent his college career at Georgia State University where he was a force at the plate over his three seasons with a slash line of .307/.379/.504.
