Rockland County, NY – The New York Boulders of the Frontier League announced today the signing of former Louisiana State University second baseman Brandt Broussard. Broussard is expected to compete for a starting job either in the outfield or third base for the Boulders.
“From a very young age it was always a dream of mine to play professional baseball,” Broussard said. “I’m incredibly excited to get that opportunity with the New York Boulders.”
He continued, “I’ve heard nothing but good things about the organization and am excited to pursue a championship with them.”
Broussard, 24, played two seasons at LSU (2018-2019) and appeared in 106 games over the two years with the Tigers, starting 97, mostly at second base. In 2019, he graduated with a BA in General Business.
During his two seasons at LSU, Broussard was named to the 2019 SEC All-Tournament Team, 2019 SEC Academic Honor Roll and made the 2018 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
In Broussard’s two years at LSU, the Tigers went 79-53 and qualified for the NCAA tournament in each season. In 2018, the Tigers were eliminated in the double-elimination Corvallis, OR, regional by host Oregon State, who handed LSU both losses; while, in 2019, after winning the regional, the Tigers lost twice to Florida State in the super regional in Baton Rouge and were eliminated.
