The Slammers were able to load the bases before recording an out in the bottom of the 1st inning but could only come up with 1 run. Harrison Bragg hit into a double play that brought home Clayton Harp, who singled to open up the inning.

Southern Illinois opened the game up in the top of the 2nd inning. Taylor Sparks hit a 2-run homerun to dead center, and the hitting didn’t stop there. The Miners scored another 3 runs in the inning making. The Slammers were able to get one of those runs back, however. Jacob Crum came around to score on a single by Jimmy Roche. The score was 5-2 after 2 innings.

For the second time in this game the Slammers loaded the bases before recording an out, and this time they made it count. Clayton Harp hit a slow roller up the middle that found its way to center field—that brought home Tommy LaCongo and Jimmy Roche. The hitting didn’t stop there for the Slammers. Harrison Bragg roped a double to center—that brought home Harp. And for the 3rd time in 3 games, Riley Krane hit another homerun to complete the 6-run inning for the Slammers. Slammers led 8-5 after 4 innings.

The Miners took the lead in top half of the 6th inning after putting up 3 runs, with the big hit being an RBI double from Kyle Davis. Miners led 9-8 after 6 innings.

The Slammers were able to tie the game up in 8thinning thanks to a 2-out RBI single from Dash Winningham. Clayton Harp, who led off the inning with a single, was the one who scored the run.

Clayton Harp had himself a day. He went 4-6, with his 4th hit being the biggest of them all. With bases loaded and 2-outs in the 9th, Harp ripped a single up the middle to give the Slammers a walk-off win.

Daren Osby didn’t get the outing he was hoping for, but he did manage to keep the Slammers within striking distance. He pitched 4 innings, gave up 5 runs on 5 hits, struck out 4 while allowing 5 walks. Osby would get a no decision in the game.

For the Miners, Ryan McAuliffe came out of the gate hot, then was roughed up in the 4th inning. Through his 4 innings, McAuliffe gave up 8 runs on 12 hits, and didn’t tally a strikeout. McAuliffe would also get a no decision in today’s game.
