With 1 out in the bottom of the 1st, Riley Krane laid down an absolute beauty of a bunt down the 3rd base line that lead to a bunt single. Chaz Meadows, the ensuing hitter, scorched one into the left-center gap that one hopped the wall and brought Krane home to give the Slammers a 1-0 lead.

The Slammers added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Peyton Isaacson led off the inning with a double down the right field line, then scored after Hoopii-Haslam lifted a single to center. Jared Morello walked later in the inning and scored after Riley Krane notched his 2nd hit of the game, giving the Slammers a 3-0 lead.

The Rascals managed to put up 8 hits, but only got 1 run out of those hits. They left the bases loaded twice and grounded into 2 double plays—both ended the respective innings. The Rascals 1 run came from a bases loaded walk.

Tyler Jandron was an escape artist tonight for the Slammers. Twice he loaded the bases, twice he escaped with minimal damage. Escaping jams does come with a high pitch count, and that’s what happened to Jandron in this game. He only lasted 5 innings and topped the century mark in pitches. In those 5 innings, Jandron only allowed 1 run on 7 hits, struck out 5 and walked 6. Mitch McIntyre came on in relief for Jandron.

After giving up 3 runs in the first 2 innings, Taylor Ahearn really settled in the for the Rascals. He only allowed 1 baserunner over his next 4 innings, then was eventually pulled after the 6thinning. Ahearn gave up the 3 runs on 6 hits, struck out 8 and only walked 1.

With this win, the Slammers finally win their first series in front of their home fans. They have also now won 2 games in a row and improve their record to 18-30. The Rascals fall to 25-22 with the loss and have dropped 2 in a row. The Slammers open another home series against the Windy City Thunderbolts, Friday, July 5th. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
